2020 Alumnae Reunion Details

June 23, 2020

Dear Alumnae,

Since St. Scholastica High School/Academy was founded in Chicago 160 years ago, the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago have continued to hold our alumnae in great regard. Our students and our alumnae have been our ministry, our mission, and our shining legacy. Your concerns have been our concerns. Watching you go forth and share your strength and Benedictine values to help make the world a better place gives us great pride and continues as an honor, which we still enjoy today.

Thus, the decision we have had to make about the SSA 2020 Reunions is very difficult, but it is the only decision we could responsibly make. In these uncertain times of COVID-19, with an abundance of caution, we are postponing the 2020 SSA Reunion indefinitely. We feel this is safest and most prudent for all concerned.

By now, you have most likely received a “Save the Date” postcard for your Class Reunion. You may even have been contacted by a classmate who kindly volunteered to help plan the gathering for your class and reach out to members of the class personally, in preparation for this special event. If you have not been contacted, this may mean we don’t have your current information (and we would appreciate your help in updating it!). To update your information, please contact Ms. Siobhan O'Neill Meluso at 773-764-2413, ext. 232, or by email at smeluso@osbchicago.org.

The reality of postponing the reunion is a great disappointment for you and for us, but we believe this will help keep everyone safe. We hope to be able to re-schedule for either the fall of 2021 or as soon thereafter as the safety of large gatherings can prove acceptable.

Meanwhile, we are planning a virtual SSA Reunion for this year. We invite you to join us as we reminisce about your high school days and reconnect with your classmates and teachers online. Advanced reservations are required to accommodate all alumnae in the virtual reunion Zoom hour! See the enclosed form for details or click this link: https://bit.ly/2UoFH2f.

Please know that even though we may not be physically together this year in these times of caution brought on by the pandemic, we continue as always to hold you and your concerns in prayer. We look forward to keeping you informed about additional online events from the monastery, in the months to follow and especially to seeing you on Zoom for the virtual reunion.

Sincerely yours,

Judith Murphy, O.S.B.
