The Benedictine Medal

Sister Patricia Crowley, Prioress

We are a community of women committed to contemplative prayer, community life and ministries that respond to the changing demands around us.

Sister Karen Bland

Sisters Jane Smith and Ann Sharp

Living with monastic hearts provides us the peace and quiet that enables us to move into the noise and activity of the city with commitment, conviction and realism.

We strive to live out Benedict's call to "Listen, my daughter, with the ear of your heart". We listen through communal prayer and scriptural reflection; we hear God's call through dialogue with one another; we seek to respond as we are able WHERE THERE IS NEED, our community tradition and charism.
Sister Mildred Zember
Sister Rosemarie Rupar

We bring our individual giftedness and personal charisms, nurtured by our lived experiences to the people of God.

We have staffed grammar schools in parishes in the Chicago area and Colorado. St. Scholastica Academy, a boarding school in Cañon City Colorado was closed in 2001. St. Scholastica Academy, Chicago was closed as a four year academy in 2012. Twenty-six young women are currently enrolled as students in St. Scholastica Senior Academy, so that the class of 2013 may complete their high school education at St Scholastica Academy. In addition to education, our current ministries include parish ministries, pastoral counseling, work with the homeless, and spiritual direction. Our community has taken corporate stances against the death penalty, torture and human trafficking. Our many ministries mirror the needs of the communities and the world in which we live.
