On Sunday 15 January, the community held the official celebration of Sister MaryAlice Setnicar’s 100th birthday and 80th jubilee.  Sister Mary Alice’s energy and her love for her family and friends were nearly palpable as people from her past and present gathered to celebrate remarkable milestones with her. The celebration began with Mass at which Sister Mary Alice repeated the vows she made eighty years ago - of stability, obedience and fidelity to the monastic way of life. After signing her vows, she raised her arms and sang the Suscipe, "Uphold me O Lord, according to Your word, and I shall live. And do not fail me in my hope."

After Mass, there was plenty of time for visiting with family, friends, and community at a light lunch held in the school cafeteria. Many members of Sister Mary Alice's family were present, although her youngest sister was unable to attend. Also present were friends she has known from her childhood, as well as families from her many years of teaching, and newer friends. As Sister Patricia Crowley mentioned in her reflections, many stories were shared, not only of her past service, but of her current energy and enthusiasm. The community is grateful for Sister Mary Alice's presence, and her ongoing example of service to God and God's people. Sister Mary Alice with her family
